Why the term ‘Eco-friendly’ is essential today? We all do have many other works. Why we need to change ourselves for upcoming generations?

Our ancestors gave us a good planet which was fully filled by plants, trees, sparrows, joint families, pollution free lifestyle, real happiness and many more eco-friendly stuffs. We have been spoiling since the technology had sit in the front seat. Luxury living is not about living with gadgets and lot of electricity. The real luxury lies on where we start spending time and money to return back the same planet to our children.

What is Eco-friendly living?

Eco-friendly living is the act of living with intent which is focused on establishing harmless environment through the interactions we have in everyday life. This would go beyond the ideology and extending towards actual practices that influence the businesses, communities and even individuals. Many of us think that switching off the lights when we leave home or splitting up garbage into sections for recycling. But being eco-friendly is more far beyond those activities and it’s about changing the way we live and changing the purpose in it every aspect. Replacing the stuffs we use in daily life into eco-friendly products would make us Green Living. This would help us to conserve energy, prevent pollutions in air, water and in noise.

How to transform into Eco-friendly living?

Few simple implementations and small changes will lead us to become Eco-friendly person such as knowing how our decisions are affecting the environment. Anyhow, there are few stages listed by the environmentalists;

As we can able to see that the first step is all about ourselves to change the way we consume stuffs in everyday life. The change should always start from within one’s self. This refers to just changing our regular activities such as changing mode of travelling, changing packaging types we use for transit, changing waste disposal practices and ultimately changing the way of using the natural resources.

• Being aware of our Carbon Footprint and reducing gradually

This one is about Carbon imprint on all activities we do. We may not able to change it easily for many reasons. Because, the type of the house we live in or driving a car or our employment type cannot be changed drastically to reduce the carbon footprint. But we do have the major responsibility to lessen the imprint as much as possible.

• Supporting those who work to produce such sustainable community

This involves adopting better connections with the businesses offering eco-friendly products, packaging and even environmental stuffs, with the communities which are working hard for better environmental changes, with neighborhood eco-friendly people you know and provide them support to enable them to create further sustainable lifestyle. This might not be simple, that is the reason for this point to be in the final step.

Though, few simple activities may make it change gradually such as;

• Having subscription with environmental groups and communities in social media and sharing the worthy tips among others (appreciating makes anyone long run)
• Help those who plant trees. You may not find someone in your area. In such cases you can the organizations planting trees for your action. For example, there is a search engine known as Ecosia which plants a tree for each search done by any users around the globe. You can use it for being eco-friendly.
• You can replace the gift which you give to your friends, family or relatives into eco-friendly gifts such as diaries, calendars, writing objects with plantable seed papers and materials. Large corporate organizations can replace the stationeries into to these kinds of eco-friendly stationeries so that your employee can finish off using the pencil and plant it later. You can find very tiny count of companies offering such eco-friendly products. An India based venture called Pepaa is deeply working on sustainable products since many years to promote eco-friendly living by producing plantable seed pens, pencils, plantable papers, recycled stuffs, plantable paper calendars, seed wrist bands, etc. And some other players also available in the global market who are producing sustainable products.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – Reducing the waste we produce, reuse the stuffs not to become waste in all possible criteria and recycling the waste to create some other useful item.

• Energy Conservation

There is potential energy used to produce water, fuel and electricity. There is already scarcity in these essentials around the globe. Just switching off the fan or light which is not in usage will fix many issues at ease.

• Energy efficient products

Buying the products which consumes less energy will make you more eco-friendly. Buy five star rated electric products to your home or buy CFL lights instead of normal bulbs.

• Don’t pollute the water

People dispose hazardous wastes in ground. It mixes up with ground water to make enough pollution. Avoid such disposal activities (it might be you or anyone around you).

• Use less automobile

Take some available public transportation vehicles for commuting or travel with your colleagues to reduce carbon footprint you generate. If your destination is far away from house, you can either start bit earlier or you can take a ride on your bicycle.

• Plant more trees

You can eventually start giving and taking the trees from people whoever you know just to keep on planting. There are many online foundations and organizations to encourage and support people who plant every day.

If we follow the above said methods and implement it, we can take part in the group of real human. Charles Darwin‘s Theory of Survival – ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ holds more momentum than his other theories. There should be a mutual “Give and take policy” between the Humans and Earth for proper sustenance of life on earth. Now is the time to act right! Everybody on this planet should have this thought instilled during their everyday walks of life and only then can we foresee a greener and healthier planet.
