How To Select Eco-Friendly Birthday Return Gifts From Pepaa

Birthday parties are all about having fun with your friends and family and celebrating your existence in their lives. But do you realize how much of non-biodegradable waste you generate on your birthday? Balloons, ribbons, plastic gift wrappings, disposable cups, and plates, etc. are all non-biodegradable. All of these, when discarded, either get buried under the landfills for hundreds of years or end up in the stomach of a fish or turtle swimming in the ocean.

If your birthday is around the corner and you wish to reduce wastage, you can opt for eco-friendly options like bamboo plates for serving food and plantable seed paper for wrapping gifts. Also, you can choose an eco-friendly birthday return gift that will not only be safe for the environment but inspire your friends to do the same. Pepaa has some fantastic and aesthetic stationery items that are absolutely biodegradable and even plantable. Here’s our guide to choosing the perfect birthday return gift from the variety that Pepaa offers.

Think about the common hobby of your squad

One of the best ways to choose a birthday return gift India is to find something that might interest all the guests of your party. You can gift your guests something related to the common hobby or interest of the majority of them. For instance, if it’s going to be a kid’s birthday party, you can present them with a set of colored pencils. Pepaa offers a wonderful variety of recyclable pencils that your guests are surely going to love. If all the people attending your party are atheists, then you can gift them plantable seed Ganesha. This idol will grow into a beautiful spinach plant once buried under the soil. The spirituality and the eco-friendliness of your birthday return gifts are sure to delight your guests.

    Be theme specific

A theme is always the best part of a party and makes the evening memorable for years. A party theme will not only make the guests participate lively in the occasion, but allow you to display your creativity in the form of the decor, food, and the return gift. If you wish to keep the theme of your party as bohemian, then it will be an excellent idea to give them handy jute bags as birthday souvenirs. These bags, made by Pepaa, are not only recyclable, but they look very sophisticated and stylish.

    Do it yourself

If the number of guests attending your birthday party is not more than 5 or 6, then you can think of pleasing them with a hand-crafted birthday return gift. Pepaa offers an impressive variety of handmade paper that can be crafted into several souvenirs. The coarse texture of these sheets adds an aesthetic value to them, along with making them a perfect canvas for organic color painting. You can make attractive cards out of these papers with a beautiful message written on them. Also, plantable seed paper can be used to wrap the gifts. The guests can, later on, bury this paper in the soil to see a full-fledged plant protruding out of the land.

Consider the festivities around the corner

This is the best way to gift your guests something that they can utilize soon, rather than storing them until they find the right opportunity to make use of these items. Think about the festivals and occasions that might be approaching.

For example, if you have your birthday in late December, you can gift them calendars made out of recycled paper, which makes a perfect gift for the coming New Year.

  • Here’s Why You Should Stop Buying Velvet Pencils Right Now

Here’s Why You Should Stop Buying Velvet Pencils Right Now

For how long have beautiful and colorful pencils fascinated you? We all have used them in our childhood, and many of us still use them as we are not able to overcome our love for colorful and vibrant pencils. These charming pencils have always been our magic wand to build villages and rivers and learn numbers and alphabets. What we all are unaware of is the irreversible damage a 19 cm long, cylindrical piece of wood and lead can cause to our dear earth.

Do you realize that by buying such stationery items and throwing them into the dustbin, you are contributing to climate change? Keep reading to know why you need to boycott velvet pencils right now.

    The dying earth

Indians generate a mammoth 62 million tonnes of garbage every year. Do you wonder where all this waste goes? Most of it is buried in landfills where the non-biodegradable wastes contaminate the soil and make it unfit for agriculture. A large part of this garbage is thrown into water bodies, which ultimately end up in the oceans, thus contaminating them and affecting its ecosystem. A small portion of this waste is incinerated, which is no better than throwing it in the oceans.

    What’s wrong with velvet?

Artificial velvet is made of polyester, and polyester is a synthetic fiber that is non-biodegradable. A velvet pencil that you’ll throw into the dustbin today will still be present under the pile of garbage in a landfill even after 200 years! Isn’t that number scary? Moreover, the chemicals that velvet is made of will contaminate the landfill soil and make it infertile.

Natural velvet, on the other hand, is not an option either. It’s made of natural silk, and as we all know, the process of extraction of this silk, out of silk cocoons, is ruthless. No matter how beautiful, fun, or aesthetic velvet pencils are, they’re not worth it for the pain that those poor cocoons go through.

    Is there a better alternative?

Plantable seed pencils are the new revolution. They are not only colorful and beautiful but biodegradable and sustainable. Also, being made of recycled paper, they are 100% harmless for the environment and help you prevent deforestation. Pepaa is a stationery supplier in India that is known for manufacturing entirely environmentally friendly products like button badges, notebooks, pencils, pens, scribble pads, and much more. These products are made of recycled materials and seeds. Yes! You read that right; seeds. Pepaa’s plantable pencils are made up of seeds that can be buried in your garden to grow into full-fledged plants.

    How do plantable pencils work?

Plantable pencils contain a seed bomb at the top of the lead. When this seed bomb is buried in the soil, everything except the seed bomb decomposes, and the seed is exposed. This seed, when provided the adequate conditions, germinates, and a beautiful, fresh sapling protrudes out of the ground.

Once you’ve finished the lead of the pencil, bury the last piece of it in loose, damp soil, placing it upside down. Keep the seed damp by regularly watering it for ten days or until the plantling emerges. Try it! Your garden is going to love it, and the earth is going to thank you.

    Frequently asked questions

Are plantable pencils as smooth as the wooden ones?

Absolutely. Pepaa’s plantable pencils are just like any other pencil. The only difference is that the wood of a regular pencil is replaced with recycled paper, and the tip is embedded with a plantable seed.

    Does Pepaa make customized pencils?

Yes. Pepaa manufactures customized products at affordable prices. The best part about this is that their minimum order quantity is surprisingly very low. Pepaa can customize even a set of fifty pencils for its customers.

Are plantable pencils costlier than regular pencils?

Plantable pencils are super affordable as they offer recycled pencils for as low as 6 INR. In fact, they are even better than the regular pencils as they are helping you undo climate change.

Are you an environmentally conscious person and wish to opt for eco-friendly products but, at the same time, don’t want to extract all the color and beauty out of your life? Don’t worry. Pepaa’s is here to save you as well as the environment with its fantastic range of cute, colorful, and plantable pencils. By purchasing products from Pepaa, you can enjoy using interesting stationery and contribute to a greener environment.

[Urbanite] Bajaj Chetak is Now an Electric Scooter!

Urbanite: The New Electric Scooter from Bajaj Chetak!

The Bajaj Chetak is the first offering from the company’s newly launched electric mobility brand ‘Urbanite’.

Making a foray into electric vehicles, Bajaj Auto unveiled its new electric mobility brand ‘Urbanite’ with the launch of its first electric scooter, the Bajaj Chetak. This is the company’s comeback to scooters, a decade after it stopped making scooters to focus purely on motorcycles.

The new Bajaj Chetak will be available from January 2020, first in Pune, then Bengaluru, and then in other cities across the country. However, the brand Urbanite will see more scooters and even three-wheelers being launched.

The scooter has been designed and developed in-house and has been designed to resemble the original Chetak, which was an extremely popular geared scooter in the 1960s and 70s.

Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter | Urbanite | Pepaa | Sustainability Stories | Zero Waste | Waste Management

Bajaj has become the first mainstream Indian motorcycle brand to enter the electric space and simultaneously return to the scooter segment with its new Urbanite sub-division. And the first product from this brand is the Chetak – a nameplate that returns after almost 14 years.

    Urbanite Variants and Modes

The new Bajaj Chetak will be available in two variants and offer a range of 85 kilometres and 95 kilometres. The battery on the scooter will be an IP67 rated high-tech Lithium-Ion battery with NCA cells, which will offer an in-city range of up to 100 km.

The company also revealed that the Chetak will come with an Intelligent Battery Management System that controls the charge and discharge seamlessly.

The bike also comes with advanced algorithms with edge computing that can evolve and optimise everything from throttle response to battery charging to extract maximum life from every electric, mechanical and chemical part of the vehicle.

It also comes in two driving modes: Eco and Sport along with reverse assist. The Chetak will also be fully connected, where riders can access information such as locating their Bajaj Chetak scooter, protecting it from theft and also receive notifications in case of an accident or unauthorised access. One can also set their music and read helpful riding tips from a connected device.

Production for the scooter began on September 25, 2019, and Bajaj has said that the electric Chetak’s price will be revealed at its Pune launch in January 2020.

The scooter will be positioned as a premium product and Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto was quoted as saying, “I hesitate to call it an aggressive price, but we’ll price it attractively. It’s not going to be as high as Rs 1.5 lakh.”

After Pune, Bajaj will move on to Bengaluru as the company wants to study market response before moving to other cities.

The scooter also qualifies for the FAME II subsidy.

    Urbanite Motor and Range

The Chetak will use a 4kW electric motor and while exact battery specs have not been revealed so far, the e-scooter will use an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack.

Visuals shown from the manufacturing plant suggest that the battery pack may not be removable, but this needs to be confirmed. The e-scooter also has two riding modes – Eco and Sport – and it will have a reverse assist feature as well. Range is quoted at 85km and 95km in Sport and Eco modes, respectively. Bajaj points out that these figures were achieved through real-world testing within Pune city and that the ARAI test figures will be much higher.

The scooter has an in-built charger and the vehicle can be charged using a regular 5-ampere home power outlet. There will be no DC fast charging feature (Bajaj says the range is adequate enough to not require this feature) and a full charge will take around five hours. Bajaj says they will also sell a home-charging station at a ‘nominal cost’ and this charger will also show the amount of energy consumed during charging.

    Bajaj Chetak Styling

Bajaj has adopted a sleek yet retro styling for the Chetak. The curvy side panels and a wide front apron are contrasted by the contemporary multi-spoke alloy wheels. The face is reminiscent of the Yamaha Fascino, but the electric Chetak features LED lighting all around, with a neat LED DRL that outlines the shape of the headlight. The indicators have a scrolling function like what you see in new-age Audis and the switchgear is said to be ‘feather-touch activated’. A keyless start function also comes as standard.

Bajaj will offer the Chetak in six colours, including the classic ivory and gold seen here, which are void of any graphics to go with the retro-styling. Metal body panels are used here instead of fibre or plastic. The Chetak’s seat has a unique cantilever design that adds a touch of class without sacrificing practicality. Another retro touch is the inclusion of a glove box, but with a modern soft-close effect.

Bajaj has equipped the new Chetak with a fully digital instrument cluster that will display a host of information, but it isn’t a premium TFT unit as seen on the Ather. Decisions like this are expected to help Bajaj price the Chetak more competitively.
The e-scooter will have a number of connected features like vehicle parameter monitoring as well as security, and they are likely to be enabled via data connectivity. What is also expected is a special mobile app that gives the rider a comprehensive overview of many aspects of the vehicle and ride history.

The company will stick to its existing network to retail the Chetak e-scooter.
