  • The Ugly Truth Lurking Behind Thriving Industries – Animal Cruelty

The Ugly Truth Lurking Behind Thriving Industries – Animal Cruelty

We, humans, feel privileged, for we were given the body to do anything we wanted. And why shouldn’t we? We created civilizations and established a perfect world. But have we, really? There is money, and then there is glamor. Is that enough to live a sustainable life? The globe spins under a system now. Does this system ensure justice to all?

Many questions arise as we discuss the human-dominated world we have built, but we all go numb when we are asked for answers. It’s not like there are no answers. It’s just that we have to see ahead of our own needs.

Clearly, humans are not the only living beings put to survive on this planet. There are animals, birds, and insects with us, too. However, we decided that we are superior to them and are liable to use them the way we want. As atrocious as it may sound, it’s the poignant reality of our rather shiny world.

Below are listed some of your favorite industries and why you shouldn’t encourage them :

(We know that you already know their darkest secrets, but we will still try to tell to save animals).

    The fashion industry

Fashion. The word itself sounds so self-fulfilling that one wouldn’t point fingers at it for killing animals. However, as it goes, all that glitters is not gold. Our beloved fashion industry thrives only because it promotes skinning animals alive.

Although it’s banned in most places now, there are still some fashion freaks that would pay a fortune to get animals killed for their fur. Guess who made it look classy to be cruel?

The fashion industry doesn’t mind animals being slaughtered for leather and fur, but there’s no statement strong enough to cover for this act of brutality.

    The animal farming industry

There’s no “hidden truth” behind the animal farming industry. The brutality lies naked in front of us, and we are convinced that it’s okay to kill animals and eat them. Intellectuals would argue that meat and dairy products are needed by humans to make them stronger. However, it would all go in vain. Humans can be vegan and still be strong. In fact, non-vegans are more prone to health hazards.

The animal farming industry is nothing but a mass murder nightmare that comes to life every day for millions of animals.

    The recreational education industry

Most of us might not accept “Recreational Education” as a compound word, but it has got something to do with animal cruelty on some level. The zoos are to be blamed. We have all been to these prisons for animals as a child or as an adult. We are told to have “fun” at zoos and learn about animals and their habitats. It couldn’t get any more wrong than this.

Zoos literally cage up with animals, and it’s nothing short than torture for our non-human friends. Zoos can be fun for us, but they don’t provide the right knowledge about animals to us on any level.

The zoos are a lie for animal safety that we tell us and our younger generations over and over again.

    The animal testing industry

The animal testing industry has got to be the most upfront business in terms of cruelty. The mere existence of this industry is a disgrace. Various chemicals and medicines are tested on innocent animals before they reach you.

Fifty percent of these animals die during these heinous tests, and the ones that don’t die are later on killed because they don’t serve a good purpose to the industry. What’s worse is that animal testing is not even reliable ninety percent of the time.

The question arises here. Why do we even let things happen that are cruel and pointless at the same time? Mindlessly depriving beings of their lives can’t be justified on any level. This needs to stop.

  • Here’s Why Investing In Plantable Seed Paper Is Worth Your Buck

Here’s Why Investing In Plantable Seed Paper Is Worth Your Buck

Our world has turned into a global village, the vision our leaders had, some fifty years back. But how competently is that working out for us? What have we achieved so far? Technological developments and global warming have been the only two significant observations of this century, and yet we rejoice about how far we have come. Sure, we have come too far.

Only the sensible few are here to notice how far we have come, really. The rate of climate change is off the charts, and the pace at which we are exploiting our planet is alarming. This is a pure disgrace. Man and nature will have to walk hand in hand to coexist peacefully. It is a course of mutual respect. Otherwise, one will devour the other. We cannot be stripping our planet of all its trees day by day.

It is like petitioning for a natural apocalypse. However, it is happening now, here and in front of us, and we do nothing about it. Our hands are not tied. We can contribute to saving nature by not manipulating it. For example, we can replace the sinful paper we regularly use, with plantable seed paper. Here is everything you need to comprehend before you start your own green revolution.

What actually is this Plantable Seed Paper?

Honestly, this seed paper is a rebellion against deforestation. It is the ultimate answer to all the unethical practices against nature. Putting in digestible words, plantable seed paper is a nature-friendly version of the paper.

It is handmade and totally biodegradable. It is made by recycling waste paper and textile waste. Hence, organic. To your surprise, this paper is even plantable. That’s why we love to call it botanical paper or seed paper.

How does this Seed Paper work?

    • This plantable and sustainable seed paper has got little seeds ingrained in it.
    • So, once you have used the paper, soak it in water for a night.
    • The next day you will be able to see tiny sprouts.
    • Now, cut the paper into small pieces and plant them in soil.
    • Water your plants every day and let them see the sun.
    • They’ll grow up to be beautiful flowers or exotic fruits. Who knows?

    Why choose Plantable Seed Paper?

The reasons to choose plantable seed paper are plenty. However, all you need is a strong will to save the environment. Every year, millions of trees are slaughtered to provide for the paper we use every day. We buy these nice looking clean sheets of “planet abuse” at high rates from the market with no regrets.

The Earth weeps for every tree that is cut down. So, to wipe off mama Earth’s tears, we must use this seed paper as it is handmade after recycling waste paper. The best part is that the paper has little seeds embedded in it. This way, you are not only not hurting the planet for your paper, but also you are planting more trees. Seed paper is “planet cruelty-free.” This term might sound alien to some of us, but it is only legit. We have no idea how brutal we have been to our planet. With this revolutionary seed paper, we can help the Earth restore its faith in kindness.

As if that wasn’t reason enough, plantable seed paper products have a good texture that is perfect for writing, drawing, painting, and printing. It can be dyed with water-based organic colors. So, you are assured of an exceptional quality product that is eco-friendly as well.

Where can Plantable Seed Paper be used?

Literally everywhere! The uses of this seed paper are aplenty. This miraculous invention can take the place of the immoral paper we use all the time.

To list a few, we have notebooks, diaries, notepads, invitation cards, and even printing paper. All these products have a unique texture and a striking off white color. We heard vintage was in.

    Takeaway:

Walking the wrong path seems fun and easy until we have to bear the consequences. The same happened in the case of paper made from wood pulp. We overdid it even when it was wrong.

However, plantable seed paper is here, and it looks like it is the only safe option we are left with. If we switch to it, it might help us undo the damage. In doing so, we’ll also be balancing the ecosystem resulting in the perfect harmony of man and nature. It does sound like a happy ending.

  • How to become Eco friendly?

    How to become Eco friendly?

    Yep.

Why the term ‘Eco-friendly’ is essential today? We all do have many other works. Why we need to change ourselves for upcoming generations?

Our ancestors gave us a good planet which was fully filled by plants, trees, sparrows, joint families, pollution free lifestyle, real happiness and many more eco-friendly stuffs. We have been spoiling since the technology had sit in the front seat. Luxury living is not about living with gadgets and lot of electricity. The real luxury lies on where we start spending time and money to return back the same planet to our children.

    What is Eco-friendly living?

Eco-friendly living is the act of living with intent which is focused on establishing harmless environment through the interactions we have in everyday life. This would go beyond the ideology and extending towards actual practices that influence the businesses, communities and even individuals. Many of us think that switching off the lights when we leave home or splitting up garbage into sections for recycling. But being eco-friendly is more far beyond those activities and it’s about changing the way we live and changing the purpose in it every aspect. Replacing the stuffs we use in daily life into eco-friendly products would make us Green Living. This would help us to conserve energy, prevent pollutions in air, water and in noise.

How to transform into Eco-friendly living?

    Few simple implementations and small changes will lead us to become Eco-friendly person such as knowing how our decisions are affecting the environment. Anyhow, there are few stages listed by the environmentalists;

    • Consuming the stuffs which cause very less damage to the environment

As we can able to see that the first step is all about ourselves to change the way we consume stuffs in everyday life. The change should always start from within one’s self. This refers to just changing our regular activities such as changing mode of travelling, changing packaging types we use for transit, changing waste disposal practices and ultimately changing the way of using the natural resources.

    • Being aware of our Carbon Footprint and reducing gradually

This one is about Carbon imprint on all activities we do. We may not able to change it easily for many reasons. Because, the type of the house we live in or driving a car or our employment type cannot be changed drastically to reduce the carbon footprint. But we do have the major responsibility to lessen the imprint as much as possible.

    • Supporting those who work to produce such sustainable community

This involves adopting better connections with the businesses offering eco-friendly products, packaging and even environmental stuffs, with the communities which are working hard for better environmental changes, with neighborhood eco-friendly people you know and provide them support to enable them to create further sustainable lifestyle. This might not be simple, that is the reason for this point to be in the final step.

    Though, few simple activities may make it change gradually such as;

    • Having subscription with environmental groups and communities in social media and sharing the worthy tips among others (appreciating makes anyone long run)
    • Help those who plant trees. You may not find someone in your area. In such cases you can the organizations planting trees for your action. For example, there is a search engine known as Ecosia which plants a tree for each search done by any users around the globe. You can use it for being eco-friendly.
    • You can replace the gift which you give to your friends, family or relatives into eco-friendly gifts such as diaries, calendars, writing objects with plantable seed papers and materials. Large corporate organizations can replace the stationeries into to these kinds of eco-friendly stationeries so that your employee can finish off using the pencil and plant it later. You can find very tiny count of companies offering such eco-friendly products. An India based venture called Pepaa is deeply working on sustainable products since many years to promote eco-friendly living by producing plantable seed pens, pencils, plantable papers, recycled stuffs, plantable paper calendars, seed wrist bands, etc. And some other players also available in the global market who are producing sustainable products.

6 Steps further to become eco-friendly

    1. 3 R’s of Waste Management

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – Reducing the waste we produce, reuse the stuffs not to become waste in all possible criteria and recycling the waste to create some other useful item.

    • Energy Conservation

There is potential energy used to produce water, fuel and electricity. There is already scarcity in these essentials around the globe. Just switching off the fan or light which is not in usage will fix many issues at ease.

    • Energy efficient products

Buying the products which consumes less energy will make you more eco-friendly. Buy five star rated electric products to your home or buy CFL lights instead of normal bulbs.

    • Don’t pollute the water

People dispose hazardous wastes in ground. It mixes up with ground water to make enough pollution. Avoid such disposal activities (it might be you or anyone around you).

    • Use less automobile

Take some available public transportation vehicles for commuting or travel with your colleagues to reduce carbon footprint you generate. If your destination is far away from house, you can either start bit earlier or you can take a ride on your bicycle.

    • Plant more trees

You can eventually start giving and taking the trees from people whoever you know just to keep on planting. There are many online foundations and organizations to encourage and support people who plant every day.

If we follow the above said methods and implement it, we can take part in the group of real human. Charles Darwin‘s Theory of Survival – ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ holds more momentum than his other theories. There should be a mutual “Give and take policy” between the Humans and Earth for proper sustenance of life on earth. Now is the time to act right! Everybody on this planet should have this thought instilled during their everyday walks of life and only then can we foresee a greener and healthier planet.

Ultimately, this is not advice. It is to bring to notice that we are not in the safe zone. But we have a last chance to react in an eco-friendly manner.

  • Why eco-friendly products are expensive?

    Why eco-friendly products are expensive?

Today, we have turned our planet Earth into a globe of garbage already. In another side we are talking about climate change issues. Nowadays, people have realized about what they are doing in terms of living their own happiness and how they are affecting the environment day to day. So the awareness towards using eco-friendly products has been increasing time to time, indeed. That’s happy news.

    In another hand, few regular consumers who had started using the Eco-friendly products are also talking about the expensiveness of the same. Probably, this issue started as they became regular users. The required volume of products in the entire market will impact the price of the product. As the demand increases manufacturing units will be increased by the suppliers. Current eco-friendly products market is projecting well from the past few years because of increasing awareness on being eco-friendly. Eco-friendly products are little bit expensive when compared to those traditional products because;

    • During production of eco-friendly products, they use high efficient washer and high end dryers which are more expensive but it has long running ability to save time and other particular sources.
    • Demand for eco-friendly product market is currently lower than traditional products.
    • Following certain labor practices are highly critical and expensive.
    • Certifications used for this industry are more expensive too.

Obviously, there are mass of people who want to transform their life into eco-friendly environment. They really need to switch to the better side of living. The questions arise when we talk about the price comparison “Why someone should buy a harmful product for less cost?” and “Why we should eliminate a needed product merely for budget reasons?” If we continue to live a meaningful life by demanding eco-friendly and recycled products more and more, those companies who produce such products can able to scale up and lower the costs. The prices may not come down further due to fair labor employment policies and terms and eco-friendly production processes. We are in the position to be in linear with that, because you pay the real value of the eco-friendly products and not overthrown.

The fact that we should think now is an ultimate cause for this topic. There are consumers who always buy cheap on the market. Many others are behind free and discounted stuffs. Ultimately, most of us are driven by meaningless ads and behind the harmful products. You can never buy happiness. But you can buy happiness of your family through regularly buying healthier and harmless products. Yes, harmless living can be bit tougher and expensive than regular living. But you really deserve it now.

The eco-friendly products can be implemented in many areas of life such as using eco-friendly bags, eco-friendly packaging, eco-friendly tags, eco-friendly cleaning products, eco-friendly washing products, eco-friendly soaps, eco-friendly clothing, eco-friendly papers such as plantable papers, plantable seed calendars, plantable paper diaries, etc., Even you can replace with few inexpensive stuffs of everyday life such as plantable pencils, plantable seed pens, plantable seed wrist bands (may be for any event), plantable movie tickets. Individuals may suffer for prices but what about large corporate who are producing tons of waste every day? They can offer such eco-friendly products to their employees like offering free eco-friendly stationeries to them as they can able to get great discounts when going for bulk purchases.

[Urbanite] Bajaj Chetak is Now an Electric Scooter!

Urbanite: The New Electric Scooter from Bajaj Chetak!

The Bajaj Chetak is the first offering from the company’s newly launched electric mobility brand ‘Urbanite’.

Making a foray into electric vehicles, Bajaj Auto unveiled its new electric mobility brand ‘Urbanite’ with the launch of its first electric scooter, the Bajaj Chetak. This is the company’s comeback to scooters, a decade after it stopped making scooters to focus purely on motorcycles.

The new Bajaj Chetak will be available from January 2020, first in Pune, then Bengaluru, and then in other cities across the country. However, the brand Urbanite will see more scooters and even three-wheelers being launched.

The scooter has been designed and developed in-house and has been designed to resemble the original Chetak, which was an extremely popular geared scooter in the 1960s and 70s.

Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter | Urbanite | Pepaa | Sustainability Stories | Zero Waste | Waste Management

Bajaj has become the first mainstream Indian motorcycle brand to enter the electric space and simultaneously return to the scooter segment with its new Urbanite sub-division. And the first product from this brand is the Chetak – a nameplate that returns after almost 14 years.

    Urbanite Variants and Modes

The new Bajaj Chetak will be available in two variants and offer a range of 85 kilometres and 95 kilometres. The battery on the scooter will be an IP67 rated high-tech Lithium-Ion battery with NCA cells, which will offer an in-city range of up to 100 km.

The company also revealed that the Chetak will come with an Intelligent Battery Management System that controls the charge and discharge seamlessly.

The bike also comes with advanced algorithms with edge computing that can evolve and optimise everything from throttle response to battery charging to extract maximum life from every electric, mechanical and chemical part of the vehicle.

It also comes in two driving modes: Eco and Sport along with reverse assist. The Chetak will also be fully connected, where riders can access information such as locating their Bajaj Chetak scooter, protecting it from theft and also receive notifications in case of an accident or unauthorised access. One can also set their music and read helpful riding tips from a connected device.

Production for the scooter began on September 25, 2019, and Bajaj has said that the electric Chetak’s price will be revealed at its Pune launch in January 2020.

The scooter will be positioned as a premium product and Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto was quoted as saying, “I hesitate to call it an aggressive price, but we’ll price it attractively. It’s not going to be as high as Rs 1.5 lakh.”

After Pune, Bajaj will move on to Bengaluru as the company wants to study market response before moving to other cities.

The scooter also qualifies for the FAME II subsidy.

    Urbanite Motor and Range

The Chetak will use a 4kW electric motor and while exact battery specs have not been revealed so far, the e-scooter will use an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack.

Visuals shown from the manufacturing plant suggest that the battery pack may not be removable, but this needs to be confirmed. The e-scooter also has two riding modes – Eco and Sport – and it will have a reverse assist feature as well. Range is quoted at 85km and 95km in Sport and Eco modes, respectively. Bajaj points out that these figures were achieved through real-world testing within Pune city and that the ARAI test figures will be much higher.

The scooter has an in-built charger and the vehicle can be charged using a regular 5-ampere home power outlet. There will be no DC fast charging feature (Bajaj says the range is adequate enough to not require this feature) and a full charge will take around five hours. Bajaj says they will also sell a home-charging station at a ‘nominal cost’ and this charger will also show the amount of energy consumed during charging.

    Bajaj Chetak Styling

Bajaj has adopted a sleek yet retro styling for the Chetak. The curvy side panels and a wide front apron are contrasted by the contemporary multi-spoke alloy wheels. The face is reminiscent of the Yamaha Fascino, but the electric Chetak features LED lighting all around, with a neat LED DRL that outlines the shape of the headlight. The indicators have a scrolling function like what you see in new-age Audis and the switchgear is said to be ‘feather-touch activated’. A keyless start function also comes as standard.

Bajaj will offer the Chetak in six colours, including the classic ivory and gold seen here, which are void of any graphics to go with the retro-styling. Metal body panels are used here instead of fibre or plastic. The Chetak’s seat has a unique cantilever design that adds a touch of class without sacrificing practicality. Another retro touch is the inclusion of a glove box, but with a modern soft-close effect.

Bajaj has equipped the new Chetak with a fully digital instrument cluster that will display a host of information, but it isn’t a premium TFT unit as seen on the Ather. Decisions like this are expected to help Bajaj price the Chetak more competitively.
The e-scooter will have a number of connected features like vehicle parameter monitoring as well as security, and they are likely to be enabled via data connectivity. What is also expected is a special mobile app that gives the rider a comprehensive overview of many aspects of the vehicle and ride history.

The company will stick to its existing network to retail the Chetak e-scooter.

    Did you know?

What makes this paper turn into a glorious plant, you ask?

    Well, here’s the amusing part.

Pepaa’s plantable seed paper wedding cards are handmade from recycled paper. Thus, no trees have been cut to make your wedding invitation cards. This eco-friendly, wood-free paper is then embedded with handpicked seeds that suit your climatic conditions. These fine quality seeds are available in ample of options of fruits and flowers like marigold, tomato, chilli etc. These seeds are based on the choices and preferences of the bride and groom and the aura of the wedding. Once the seeds are infused in the sheets of handmade, sustainable paper, they are dried and cut to the size and shape of the wedding invitation card. Once that is done, its time to print vibrant colors and exotic fonts to make them look as attractive and glamorous as possible. Voila, your eco friendly wedding cards simple yet elegant are ready.
